Hi. I'm Lisa.
I’m so happy that you’re here, and that you’re considering finding a therapist who’s a good fit for you. Let me tell you a little about myself.
I’ve been in practice for 27 years and in the mental health field for more than 30. Beyond my training and clinical qualifications, I’ve had many personal experiences that have helped make me the therapist I am today—one who has been described by my clients as compassionate, down-to-earth, knowledgeable, and worthy of trust.
I’ve had my own share of life’s struggles. Being raised in a highly dysfunctional family. Dealing with a disability, multiple traumas, and a divorce. I’ve worked in my own therapy at various times in my life, and it’s made me stronger, healthier, and more resilient than I ever thought possible. I’m a firm believer in the benefits of therapy at any age, as we are always evolving and growing.
How I work:
- I take a collaborative approach. My sessions are not merely my client talking and me asking, “How do you feel?” Rather, we stay busy, doing interactive work. You will find that I am compassionate, kind, and empathetic. I am also direct, honest, and will definitely challenge you when needed.
- I understand that beyond life experiences, our psychology is driven by our brains and neurology, and that it’s important to consider the medical side of our mental experience. The brain-body connection is especially important with my trauma and chronic pain patients, but I believe it deserves consideration in all cases.
- It’s not always heavy in my office. I have a sense of humor, and will use it when appropriate. I try to make therapy an experience where you can feel trust, understanding, empathy, and respect; where you can open up, explore, learn, and even have a little fun.
